    Resume: CHU Hong-yuan was born in 1950, had his Ph. D., and became Associate Research Fellow, Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, 1984. He received Post-doctoral study grant from the Ministry of Education, Taipei, to Cambridge and Oxford Universities, United Kingdom, 1985-1986, and grant as Visiting Professor, from Centre Chine, L’ecole de la societe en sciences sociales, France, 1990. He was also Visiting Professor, Tokyo University, Japan, in 1997. He became Research Fellow, Academia Sinica,1991, Professor, National Taiwan University, 1992, and continued to serve to the present time.

He was elected President of the Society of Overseas Chinese Studies(SOCS), R.O.C. since 2012.
