Benedict Koh is Professor of Finance (Education) and Associate Dean at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University. He is also the Director of Centre for Silver Security at the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics. Prior to joining SMU, Dr Koh was Vice Dean and Associate Professor of Finance and Accounting at the NUS Business School, National University of Singapore. Dr Koh graduated with a PhD in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has been teaching and conducting research in academic institutions since 1985. Before joining academia, he was a corporate banker at the Chase Manhattan Bank. He has also served as an executive board member of NUS ASPF Fund, the pension fund of staff at the National University of Singapore from 1996 to 2002.

    Dr Koh is a consultant and executive trainer of several banks, companies and government agencies. Some organisations that he consulted or conducted training programs for include the ABN-AMRO bank, Allianz, Bank of Singapore, Capitaland, Citibank, DBS Bank, EDB, GE Life, GIC, Hong Leong Group Bhd, IBM, ING Bank, Johnson &Johnson, JTC International, KK Hospital, Keppel Land, Keppel O&M, Lubrizol, Manulife, MICA, MSIG, NCC, NHG, NOL, Norsk Hydro Group, Prudential, Raffles Medical Group, Royal Brunei Airlines, Schneider, SGH PGMI, SIA, Singhealth Group, SNEF, Swiss Reinsurance, UBS and Visa.

    He was the Associate Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Finance and Asia Pacific Journal of Management. He has written numerous articles that appeared in academic journals, books, Singapore Stock Exchange Journal, investment magazines and newspapers. His teaching and research interests are in Corporate Finance, Personal Finance, Investment Management, Financial Markets, Commercial Banking and Empirical Finance. His book on Personal Financial Planning, published by Prentice Hall, was listed as one of the top 5 best sellers in the non-fiction category. His latest book entitled Personal Investments was recently published by Prentice Hall in 2011.
