    Guy Stear is the Head of Research, Asia, for Société Générale in Hong Kong. Besides performing a managerial role since his transfer from Paris in September 2010, Mr Stear is also responsible for the global credit strategy of Société Générale. His research covers both the macro drivers of credit markets, including earnings trends, cash supply and other technical factors, and relative value recommendations on individual names in cash credit markets, as well as credit default swaps. Mr Stear joined Société Générale in October 2002 as a credit strategist where he co-founded a team which rose from 17th to 1st place in the Euromoney Poll in 2005-2007. By 2008, Mr Stear was promoted to run the credit research team of Société Générale. Following the merger of fixed income and equity research teams in 2009, he worked as deputy to the head of the sector research team, which includes both equity and credit analysts. Prior to joining Société Générale, Mr Stear worked in the equity, government bond and forex markets in both research and sales. He obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration from Insead, a BSFS from Georgetown University, and is a CFA charterholder wherein he also holds a Certificate in Quantitative Finance.
