特邀嘉宾陈章良教授

    陈章良教授，陈章良教授，现任中国科协副主席、书记处书记，第十二届全国政协常委会委员。 1987年在美国华盛顿大学获得博士学位，长期从事植物分子生物学及植物基因工程研究，并取得了一定的成果，因此获得联合国教科文组织授予的“贾乌德〃侯赛因”青年科学家奖。1992年被评为“中国十大杰出青年”。

    他历任北京大学生物系主任，生命科学学院院长，北京大学副校长，中国农业大学校长、广西壮族自治区副主席及全国人大常委、全国青联副主席。陈教授还担任联合国科教文组织（UNESCO）生物技术项目主席、国际遗传工程和生物技术中心（ICGEB）第11届科学顾问委员会副主席等职务。

    陈教授对我国“三农”事业发展与改革具有独到见解，并曾多次在吉林、甘肃、广东、山东、河南等地作《我国农业发展现状与挑战》等专题报告。

    Prof Chen Zhangliang

    Vice-Chairman, China Association for Science and Technology

    12th CPPCC Standing Committee Member

    Professor Chen Zhangliang is the Vice-Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, and member of the 12th CPPCC Standing Committee. He received his doctorate from Washington University. He studies focused on gene cloning and development of disease and pest-resistant plants. Among his honours and awards are TIME’S Global 100 Roster of Yong Leaders for the New Millennium, the UNESCO Javed Husain Prize for Young Scientists.

    Professor Chen was the Head of the Plant Gene Engineering Laboratory of the Biology Department, Dean of the Biology Department, as well as the Vice President of Peking University. He was the President of China Agricultural University, and Vice-Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. He has been a representative to China’s National People’s Congress, Vice-Chairman for the China National Youth Federation. Professor Chen is also the Chair of the Plant Biotech Committee of UNESCO, and Vice-Chairman of the Council of Scientific Advisers to the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB).

    Professor Chen has spoken extensively on China’s development and reforms concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers issues.
