    陈金梁教授，现任南洋理工大学文学院院长，掌管文学院属下的人文与社会科学学院、黄金辉传播与信息学院及艺术、设计与媒体学院，和南洋公共管理研究生院。身为博雅教育和国际化高等教育的倡导者，陈教授积极参与南大在中国的战略发展。曾担任新加坡国立大学的副教务长 (本科生教育) 和其他重要职务。

    陈教授是多伦多大学博士。曾到多伦多大学、京都大学、香港中文大学和华盛顿大学做访问教授。陈教授主要从事哲学和宗教与诠释学的研究，并发表了许多早期早期儒家思想，特别是道家哲学的文章。

    Professor Alan Chan is Toh Puan Mahani Idris Daim Professor of Humanities and Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.  As Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at NTU, he oversees the College’s three constituent Schools – namely, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, and School of Art, Design and Media, and the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration.  A champion of liberal arts education, internationalisation of higher learning, and interdisciplinary research, Professor Chan is also centrally involved in the University’s strategic development in China.

    Prior to his appointment to NTU, he was Professor of Philosophy at the National University of Singapore (NUS).  During his tenure at NUS, Professor Chan served in a variety of senior management posts, including Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education from 2007-2009.  He was Visiting Professor at University of Toronto, Kyoto University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and University of Washington, the last on a Fulbright Scholarship.  Professor Chan obtained his doctorate from the University of Toronto.  His research focuses on Chinese philosophy and religion, and hermeneutics.  He has published widely in early Chinese thought, especially Taoist philosophy.
