    Professor Zongyi Zhang gained his Ph.D in engineering from Chongqing University in 1993 and Ph.D in economics from the University of Portsmouth, U.K. in 2001. Professor Zhang has been the President and Party committee of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics since April 2012.

    The honors and awards Professor Zhang has received included: Winner of the National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, “Millions of Talents Project” National Candidate; Ministry of Education’s “New Century Talents Scheme Propaganda” and “Outstanding Young Teachers Program” winner; China Youth Science and Technology Award. President Zhang is also the member of the State Department disciplinary review group (business management disciplines), National Master of Business Administration (MBA) Steering Committee; member of the Ministry of Education Teaching Disciplines of Business Administration Steering Committee; member of the group of judges for the National Natural Science Fund Management Division of the macro-management and decision-making.

    Professor Zongyi Zhang’s major research fields include economic transition and development, technology innovation and management, financial risk management, energy economy and management. He has published more than 250 academic articles in a number of international publications, including the Journal of Comparative Economics, Economics of Transition, and the Journal of Development Studies.

    张宗益教授于1993年获重庆大学工学博士学位， 2001年获英国朴茨茅斯大学经济学博士学位；2012年4月任西南财经大学党委常委、校长。

    张宗益教授是国家自然科学基金杰出青年基金获得者，“百千万人才工程”国家级人选，教育部“新世纪人才计划” 以及 “优秀青年教师资助计划”获得者，中国青年科技奖获得者。兼任国务院学科评议组（工商管理学科）成员，全国工商管理硕士（MBA）教育指导委员会委员，教育部工商管理学科专业教学指导委员会委员，国家自然科学基金管理学部宏观管理与决策组评委。

    张宗益教授主要从事转型经济及增长、技术创新及管理、金融风险管理、能源经济及管理等领域的研究，在《Journal of Comparative Economics》、《Economics of Transition》、《Journal of Development Studies》等国际、国内学术杂志及学术会议上共发表论文250余篇。
